Mission Statement

The mission of the Weston County Arts Council is to enrich life experience for the residents of and visitors to Weston County, Wyoming through promotion of the arts and art educational programs.

The council’s membership is made up of individuals from all walks of life volunteering to create experiences in art in all its various forms.

The Weston County Arts Council is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. The council is governed by a board of directors. The officers of the organization are a president, secretary, and treasurer.

Presently, the Weston County Arts Council wishes to promote signings, exhibits and other events to celebrate:

Culinary Arts including:

• Restaurants (main dish, side dishes), Bakers & Sweet Treats, Brewers, Candy Makers, Caterers, Cheese makers, Delis, Wine makers.

Literary Arts including:
• Novels, play scripts in theater, screen, or radio, short stories and poetry.

Performing Arts including performances of:
• Theater, dance, musical performances, cowboy poetry, performance of oratory, dramatic prose, humorous prose, and poetry as would occur in meets of the National Forensics League in today’s high schools.

Visual Arts including:
• Painting, photography, quilting, etchings, sketches, and sculpture.


Mission Rationale:
• The finest achievements of Mankind have come to society through the world of the arts.


The Arts Council will:
• Seek out and evaluate art forms presently enjoyed in Weston County.
• Promote, and provide some funding for existing art forms.
• Develop programs for new art forms and art education.
• Create new presentation opportunities for artisans.
• Promote art education.
• Inspire creativity and a greater appreciation for the arts throughout Weston County.
• To provide scholarship for art students and grant to artisans.

The Arts Council may choose to promote events in any activity they consider an art form. Our area has a delightful array of glass blowers, potters and many other crafts that will be considered.

Objectives

1. Obtain and maintain sustaining memberships from individuals, families, and
businesses throughout the county to help support the council’s agenda for
literary arts, visual arts, performing arts, our concerts, exhibits, scholarships,
grants and art education.

2. Sponsor theater productions, concerts, art exhibits, cowboy poetry
gatherings, and other events.

3. Work with school districts, community colleges, teachers and artisans to
develop classes for various art forms.

4. Partner with the Weston County Library to promote authors and their works
together with new literary programs to encourage students and others to
write.
